TIRE PERFORMANCE ENGINEER

About the job: Are you passionate about motorsports and driven to optimize performance at the highest level? We are seeking a skilled Tire Performance Engineer to join our NASCAR Cup team. This role is critical in maximizing tire performance and contributing to our success in NASCAR’s most elite series.

As the Tire Performance Engineer, you will play a vital role in analyzing tire data, collaborating with the race engineering group, vehicle performance group, and car manufacturer tire group to maximize results on track. Your analysis and conclusions will ensure optimal tire performance across various track conditions, contributing to the team’s success in NASCAR’s most elite series.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze tire performance data, including temperature and pressures trends as well as target tire settings to provide actionable insights.

  • Develop and implement tire strategies for practice, qualifying, and race conditions.

  • Work closely with the race engineering team, vehicle performance group, and car manufacturer to optimize tire performance.

  • Provide report to race engineering group for each race event.

  • Conduct post-event analysis to improve tire modeling and correlation.

  • Attend wheel force tests and report trends and findings to engineering group.

  • Stay current on innovations to maintain competitive advantages.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in tire engineering or a related motorsports role.

  • Strong knowledge of NASCAR tire dynamics, setups, and track performance.

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to thrive under the pressures of a fast-paced racing environment.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Proficient in Python preferred.

Location: Statesville, NC

Pay: Competitive, commensurate with experience

Travel: 6-8 times a year for NASCAR tire tests
