2024: Nemechek will make his return to the NASCAR Cup Series after spending the past three seasons betting on himself, competing for wins in both the NASCAR Truck Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series. He will join LEGACY MOTOR CLUB™ to drive the No. 42 Toyota Camry XSE full-time this year, partnering up with teammates Erik Jones and Jimmie Johnson.
2023: Nemechek was signed to a full-time season competing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for Joe Gibbs Racing. He has accumulated seven race wins at Auto Club Speedway, Martinsville Speedway, Atlanta Motor Speedway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Kansas Speedway, and Texas Motor Speedway. In September, Nemechek was signed to drive the No. 42 car full-time for LEGACY MOTOR CLUB in 2024. A one-race deal was struck to place Nemechek to race the No. 42 entry at Homestead-Miami Speedway. He and and wife Taylor welcomed their second daughter, Penelope.
2022: In his final season in the NASCAR Truck Series with Kyle Busch Motorsports, Nemechek added race wins at Darlington Raceway and Kansas Speedway to his resume, and earned a series-high seven pole awards on his way to a fifth-place finish in the championship standings. He also competed in 11 NASCAR Xfinity Series races, posting three top-fives and four top-10 results.
2021: Nemechek made the decision to leave the NASCAR Cup Series and return to the Truck Series with Kyle Busch Motorsports. Nemechek had a total of five victories at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Richmond Raceway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway, and Pocono Raceway, which would result in a third-place finish in the championship point standings. He also competed in five Xfinity Series races that year, and won in Texas. A life-changing moment would happen for the Nemechek’s, as they welcomed their first child, Aspen.
2020: Nemechek competed full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series as a rookie for Front Row Motorsports. The year would be highlighted by three top-10 finishes, rounding out the season with a 27th-place finish in points. He also ran three Truck Series races for NEMCO Motorsports earning one top-10. In October of 2020, John Hunter married wife, Taylor.
2019: John Hunter partnered with GMS Racing for a full-time schedule in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, putting together a solid rookie season that garnered six top-fives, 19 top-10 finishes and a seventh-place result in the championship standings. Late in the season, Nemechek would be tasked to fill in as a substitute driver for Front Row Motorsports, and made his his NASCAR Cup Series debut at Texas Motor Speedway and would go on to compete in the final three races of the season.
2018: In the year he made his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut, Nemechek split the sesaon with part-time schedules in both the Truck and Xfinity Series. Nemechek won two races that season, a truck at Martinsville Speedway for NEMCO Motorsports and won his first-career Xfinity victory at Kansas Speedway for Chip Ganassi Racing. He only competed in a partial season, but he impressed with a 13th place points finish in the Xfinity Series.
2017: In his second full-time season in the NASCAR Truck Series, Nemechek highlighted his sophomore season by winning back-to-back races at World Wide Technology Raceway and Iowa Speedway. He rounded out the seaon with eight top-five and 11 top-10 finishes, finishing eighth in the championship standings.
2016: In his first full-time season in the NASCAR Truck Series, Nemechek started off by winning the second race of the year at Atlanta Motor Speedway. He followed it up with another victory at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Nemechek finished the season with five top-five and 11 top-10 finishes, finishing eighth in the points standings.
2015: Held back from making a full-time run at the Truck Series championship due to his age, Nemechek ran 18 races in 2015. During that season John Hunter won his first career Truck Series victory at Chicagoland Speedway, in addition to eight top-five and 10 top-10 finishes. Despite only running a part-time schedule, he still finished a respectable 12th in the points.
2014: Nemechek spent the year primarily racing Super Late Models, where he was able to accomplish a noteworthy feat of winning two of the most prestigious races in the All American 400 at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway and the Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway. Nemechek made ten Truck Series starts that year, earning one top-five and six top-10 finishes.
2013: At the age of 15, John Hunter Nemechek, son of longtime NASCAR veteran “Front Row Joe” Nemechek, embarked on the start of his NASCAR career. That season would see Nemechek made two starts in both the ARCA Menards Series East and made his NASCAR Truck Series debut when he turned 16-years-old at Martinsville Speedway for his family team, NEMCO Motorsports.
