STATESVILLE, N.C. (September 11, 2024) – LEGACY MOTOR CLUB announced today a key hire of Reid Atherton, serving as a newly appointed Vice President of Business Operations charged with overseeing the CLUB’s commercial and marketing efforts. The Gainesville, Georgia native will join the executive leadership team led by LEGACY M.C.’s Chief Executive Officer, Cal Wells, III. Atherton comes to the CLUB with vast experience in motorsport working in roles with sanctioning bodies, teams, manufacturers and tracks.

Atherton, (30), earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Georgia State University. He started his professional career at the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) where he spent over four years in the partnership marketing department overseeing 20-plus partners. From there, he transitioned from the work of a motorsports-sanctioning body to a race team by joining McLaren Racing. There, he held multiple roles including management of business operations as he climbed the ranks of the team. Atherton also managed the Arrow McLaren IndyCar commercial team (INDYCAR), overseeing partner management, brand strategy, hospitality, and marketing operations departments. Most recently he held the Vice President, Motorsports position for Circuit of The Americas (COTA) where he oversaw track rental and sanctioning body agreements as well as the day-to-day management of the track operations and fulfillment teams. Atherton has been successful in generating record-breaking revenue and managing multiple teams to optimize their performance.
